The list below is the largest list of London hotels on the internet with direct links to their individual websites. If you are fed up with trying to find a hotel in London through a search engine, only to be schlepped from database to database without ever reaching the hotel's actual website, use this list instead. Clicking on the name of a hotel or hostel listed below will take you directly to their site and not to a third party booking agent. For more information on the area of London that your hotel is located in, click on the underlined postcode heading below (i.e. W1) or London by Area. The hotels are arranged by the first two or three digits of their London postcode. The postcode of a hotel can usually be found in the hotel's "contact" section of their website. The most central area of London is Soho. The first two digits of a Soho postcode are "W1." You can find out how central your hotel is by refering to the Postcode Map and seeing how near your hotel is to W1. Street maps can be found at www.streetmap.co.uk.
The first page of this list (below) covers central London. The second page covers west and south London hotels
W1 encompasses Soho and sections of the West End such as Marylebone and Mayfair. The most central area is Soho. The West End (sometimes referred to as "Theatreland") is not the same as "west london." If you have been told by your travel agent that your hotel is in "west London" it may or may not be near the "West End." It could be several miles away in areas like Paddington or Notting Hill. Get the postcode for your hotel. All hotels with a postode beginning with W1 are centrally located. The postcode and prices for the most central hotels are indicated in red. Hotels with red postcodes and prices are either located in Soho or within a few minutes walk to Soho.

(West End, Russell Square, Kings Cross)
WC1 covers some streets in the West End, but also includes some streets that are in areas like Kings Cross and Bloomsbury (Russell Square). Although it is possible to walk to Soho from King's Cross, it will take about an hour. A bus or tube train to Soho from Kings Cross will take about 15-20 minutes. Taxis to Soho from Kings Cross cost about £10. Hotels in the Russell Square/Bloomsbury area are more central than King's Cross and are within a 15 - 30 minute walk to to Soho and just a few minutes walk to the British Museum. The hotels with their postcode and prices in red are the most central and nearest to Soho.
